Dear Friends:

The holiday season always makes me pause to reflect on the many blessings in life. One of the biggest blessings in my life is the opportunity to be your mayor.

When I walked into the mayor’s office in 2004, I had a vision for our city, one that I knew would be impossible to achieve on my own. Great things rarely happen in a vacuum and I knew that the ambitious goals I shared with many in Hendersonville could only be realized if we worked together.

Today, thanks to a top-notch team of city, community and government leaders united by a shared desire to get things done, our city is in a position unimaginable just a few years ago. More than $1 billion of high-quality commercial development will soon be a reality. We’re on the national radar as a viable destination for business relocation, which will bring more jobs. We have great parks, responsive public safety departments and will soon have a world-class library—all without raising taxes. We’re managing the opportunities and challenges of growth in a proactive way.

More than ever before, the City of Hendersonville is living up to its potential. That’s why I want to publicly express my deep debt of gratitude to the people who have made it all possible.

  • The twelve alderman who have helped me make decisions for our city while never losing sight of where we’re going or where we’ve been
  • The department heads who have run our city like a business, working hard to improve efficiency and to create responsive, customer-focused organizations
  • Our public safety personnel who have responded brilliantly to both natural disasters that few cities ever face and the day-to-day job of protecting our citizens
  • City employees who work behind the scenes to keep our streets clean, our parks running, our people safe, our books balanced and our community livable
  • Agencies and officials at the local, county and state level who have helped us get funding we need for infrastructure improvements and many other needs
  • The administrations that came before mine for having the foresight to dream big
  • And the residents of Hendersonville who put their trust and confidence in us….

It has been a great three years, thanks to you. Let’s keep it going!
